Been lurking here for awhile and finally decided it's time to give a report.
Hadn't took Dad out in awhile and decided it was time since it's Fathers Day weekend. Dad's usually perfectly fine wearing Crappie out on the Hiwassee, but I like to target Walleye and hadn't been able to get up to WB in awhile. I have been wanting to see how the night-bite was up there, but just can't seem to get it on the schedule.
We headed that way at 6am. Got to the ramp shortly after daylight and the ramp looked like WalMart parking lot. We eventually got put-in and headed upriver. TVA was only putting 10,000 CFS through the dam, so I figured we were in trouble. I was wrong.
We spent the next 3 hrs ABSOLUTELY WEARING OUT the White Bass. Probably had close to 50 (maybe more). Put 10 in the livewell for the skillet and released the rest. Dad tied into a big Blue Cat (definitely his PB, and definitely fun for me to watch it kick his butt for about 10 min before I got it in the net).
Caught 2 decent Walleye in ~9ft of water that were obviously lost as the sun was big/bright.
All-in-all, great trip with Dad
Water temp was ~72.5* and all fish were caught on 1/4 - 3/8oz swimbaits and jigs, light in color and either jigged through the current or stopNgo retrieved.
