Today it was time to check out some docks. We fished some in as little as 10’ up to 20’. The deeper docks were more productive, but we found fish on the majority. The water temp was 77-79, so we have switched to summer fishing. Docks are high on the summer list. This morning was overcast, so shooting didn’t pan out, as most were hanging around the deeper edges. My best lure today was a pink and chartreuse SP tube. We lost more fish today than I ever remember losing. Bad hook set? They didn’t commit to it? I don’t know, but we PLAN for it to be an exception! We got some decent ones, but have you saw the picture of that 5.25? That fish is huge, and barring any problems, a new state record! Knocking on the door of a National record! Good for him, and I hope the pond is never publicly disclosed. Name: IMG_0915.jpg

Oh, and the females eggs are all but gone. One or two of the males were still in their courting attire, but for the most part it’s over, IMO. We have pretty much restocked the freezer after our church small group’s fish fry. I am longing for some Smoky Mountain trout fishing......
