Default First trip to the Chick!

Hello guys I am fairly new to this board.I have really enjoyed reading alot of the great information that's on here. I am looking at taking my first trip to the Chick on Saturday.I have heard alot of good about the chick. I was wondering if anyone here could steer me to a good starting point for this time of year. I am set up to long line as well . Absolutely any info would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Welcome to the Chick, a not so secret Great Lake for crappie and Bass. Some crappie are spawning right now and expect a flurry of shallow fishing around the full moon phase in a few more days. Bobby Garland jigs rule on Chickamauga. Grin. I’m bias though.

Thanks for that info drumking. I am a big fan of Bobby garlands myself! I live about 60 miles north of Knoxville . I keep hearing alot about the wolftever Creek area and also around grasshopper. Grasshopper end is closer to me but what is 30 minutes when your driving over 2 hrs. I guess I'm asking which area would be more forgiving for first time on the lake about finding fish.

IMO, you will have more crappie opportunities around the Wolftever creek area. Very near by are Harrison Bay State Park near Wolftever and Chester Frost Park about 10 minutes away. I know a lot more about this area than Grasshopper, which can be good during the spawning time, but if you bomb out there, you could run directly across the river to Sale Creek and fish that area. It has produced good catches for others, but I haven't done very well there, but I don't fish it much either.

I hope that this info helps you decide where you are going to launch. Grasshopper has a nice dock and a nice $5 fee to launch. It is free launching at Wolftever ramp, HBSP, and CFP.
