Fished the Middle Tn Crappie Club tournament Saturday with my grand daughter Marissa at Tim's Ford. Started the day out bad. Got to the gas station to gas up the bass tracker and hit the start switch and nothing but a buzz. Oh no, the battery is deader then a door nail. Went on to the ramp and registered the headed to Wally world for a new battery. Got back to the lake for a 30 minute late start. Rained on us all the way to the lake but cleared off by the time we launched. Water temp 52-55, partly cloudy, air temp was in the 50's going up to near 80, winds were 10-15. Started the day fishing deep water docks with nothing to show for it. Went to shallow brush. Hour and half before Marissa hooked about a 13 inch crappie that got tangled in some brush. Got next to it to free it and it got off.Only keeper fish we had all day. There were at least 2 bass tournaments going on in the area and every where we went there was bass fishermen on the spots I wanted to fish. #hours and nothing else. Went back to deep water docks and marked fish all over the hummin bird. Set out 4 slip floats about 10 ft down in 25 ft of water and bam 2 went down. Marissa's pole bent double and she road it under the boat, broken line. Same with me. Rock fish, and big ones. Before I could get the other lines in it happened again. All 4 lines broke. Sat there and retied and moved back to brush. After moving around we finally started to catch crappie in shallow brush. Only problem was they were all 9.5 inch long. Sat there for about an hour and caught about 20. Last hour moved around with nothing to show. Nothing to weigh in. Marissa still had fun so not all was lost. Check out the Middle Tn club site for full results. Next up our annual fishing trip to Tim's for small mouth and rock fish or whatever we can catch.
Will post pics if we have anything worth taking pics of.
Good fishing everyone.

Great report! Nothing like that disappointed when you get one so close to the boat an some how they escape! I'm sure y'all will get them next time, an probably a big black nose one too!
