Default Found some near Caney Creek

Fished from 9:30am til 3. Water temp was 56° and stained but decent. Had to weed through the nursery but me and a friend had 21 keepers. Had 73 fish total. Really fun day.

Just exactly HOW CLOSE to Caney Creek are we talking about, here ???

Caught some good fish from the back of Caney, around the park in Shanty Branch & under the bridge. Also down the left bank in Bullet Branch and the back area of Chapman Branch. And even in the back of the little bay across from Caney Creek, where the De Armond Road ramp is located. You talking THAT close ??

All but 3 fish came from the cove at Roane co park. About 6 boats in there with us at one point today. The short fish were stacked in there thick. My buddy and I trolled 2 rods each, multiple times we had 4 fish hooked up all at once. Everyone was catching shorts. But for the 1st time i get to say we smoked everybody. Mix of white and black crappie. Even had a black nose in the keeper pile.

Caught many a good Black Nose back in Caney, especially under the bridge. Mostly casting Road Runners there and Bullet Branch, but in late April. Right after they started clearing the land for the park expansion, they all but shut down in Caney and we started working our way down the lake .... from the Bayside area for a few years, to the Whites Creek area for the last 20yrs or so.

I'm glad to see that Caney is producing some fish, again. Gives me hope that that area can once again be put back on my trip list.

    Thanks for the report !!
