I canceled our catfishing trip and my wife and I went up to the Crossville area to visit family. While up there, I fished with my brother in law in his ponds for bluegills, catfish, and bass. Leon caught one catfish a little over 7 lbs and I had a good one on that got into the only tree that he had in this pond and it buried up and I couldn't pull it out even with the braided line that I had on. I had to break it off. Bummer.
Then we switched to Rooster Tail spinners and started whacking the bass and bluegills. The bass were small, but we got into some really good bluegills. Leon and I both caught one that measured 9 3/4" long. Just short of the 10" length that I needed for another TARP certificate. These bluegills have only been stocked for 3 years, so I expect to catch the TARP that I need this fall or early next year. We let the big ones go to grow up. We kept a few smaller ones for Leon's supper. Grin. Pond fishing is so much fun. I love it.
