Good report! That fog makes me nervous that I'll get run over!

Ricky Watts and I made my first trip to the Hiwassie this year for a round of crappie fishing. It was very foggy and the first two stops, there were boats already on the spot. One was my friend Tenncrappie and he invited me to fish in a stump that he had marked about 20 yards below where he was set up. We stayed just long enough to catch one keeper and a couple of short crappie. I didn't want to stay on his spot very long, so we headed back down river through very thick fog for about 5 miles.
We found some good keeper crappie on deep brush in about 15 feet of water on the river's edge. We also caught yellow bass, spotted bass and a channel catfish on that spot. It must be a community spot for all the local fish. Grin. Then we scouted for a while. We needed to find more spots on that river and after the sun burned off the fog and it got hot, we opted to quit for the day and come back later on in the week.
Water temp was 76 degrees and they would run current for 15 minutes, then shut it off for 15 minutes and then back on. It was that way all morning. I don't know why they would do such a thing as that, but my friend said that they do that a lot on this river. Color didn't seem to mind today. We experimented with a lot of different colors and nothing really stood out.

Good to see you guys. We ended up with 19 keepers and about that many shorts. It won't be long till things should really take off.
Congrats on a good day and glad fog didn't cause injuries
Good report! Glad you got to spend sometime on the water!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there is no one out to get you
I have always wanted to fish that area, especially the delta area. As I'm sure everyone else has thought the same thing. Stupid sprained ankle! I won't do that again...![]()
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
