Finally got a chance to spend the weekend at the river/lake. Hit the water at 6:00 am with a light fog, and duck hunters blasting teal and wood duck. Made my way into a creek off the river and the first thing i see is three deer swimming right Infront of me. Let them pass by before I headed to my first stake bed. Had a blue and white tube jig on at first. First couple of beds got no hits, so I cut the line and put a white crappie magnet on top and about 6 inches below I tied on a chartreuse marabou jig. Tipped both jigs with a nibble proceeded to the next bed. Fishing in 3-4 foot of water I proceeded to catch I dont know how many 9-93/4 inch fish. It was neck and neck as to what color they wanted, but with sunny skies and clear water they light the lighter colors. In between beds I would drag the jigs in the water and would catch several. I ended the day with 6 keeper crappie and one bass. Day before i found a hole at the mouth of the creek that had lots of 9 inchers along with them long toothy critters. Man that single poling is addictive!!
