    Default Fishing as therapy

Although I usually try to avoid the weekend crowds (Friday evening is included), I needed a release. This week has less than smooth. To set the stage, I have been in the financial services business for the past 20 years. I am no longer a spring chicken, however 58 seems much younger to me than it did 30 years ago. Anyway, to try and be proactive for changing regulations, I felt it necessary to add the Registered Investment Advisor Representative certification to my practice. This means taking an exam that requires a lot of memorizing various laws, etc. I'm a bit lacking in the memory department, so the recommended 40 hours of study had to be increased at least 7 fold! Two months of prep, along with continuing to manage my business was how it worked out. The exam was scheduled on my Dad's 86th birthday, which was Thursday. Unfortunately, Dad was admitted to the hospital 9 days ago, and that was the venue for his celebration. To make matters worse, something happened Tuesday afternoon (minor stroke maybe), but both myself and my brother doubted that he would see the next morning. However, God was not quite ready for him, and Wednesday morning found him much better. As I was walking my dog Thursday morning before heading to the testing center, I was praying, and God gave me a sign in the Eastern sky! Long story short, I passed the exam ( it was not easy, and I actually thought I had failed), and then my family gathered in the hospital to celebrate the greatest man I know! I have pictures, but prefer to protect his dignity.
On to the fishing! My wife and I launched the boat about 5:30 Friday evening. The temp was HOT, and the water temp was showing 85 in the creek we launched in. My plan was to fish docks on the main channel, and to my surprise, the water temp there was 80-81! The fishing wasn't stellar by any means, but we were able to pick up one here and one there. We could see them on the Downscan, but getting them to bite....not easy. My wife put on a blue and chartreuse tube and squirted it full of Johnson Scad Shales that I was fortunate enough to win in one of the crappie.com contests (I love those!), and that was the ticket. 20-30 FOW, about 15 ft down was the ticket. The quantity didn't happen, but the quality was good for Fort Loudoun. And the therapy, outstanding! Sometimes it's not about how many you catch!Name: IMG_0626.jpg

A lot of times you don't have to catch ANYTHING! Just being in the BEAUTIFUL outdoors is GREAT therapy! Hoping the best for your Father.

I actually posted this on the wrong thread, but they came to town last year. We are not far from the airport, and this was taken from our front yard.
