Night Time Is The Right Time
I'm not a big fan of heat or crowds when on the water. So when both of those things are happening at the same time, I'm going night fishing. A little snooze before hand, bring along a few snacks and some coffee. I'm good till way up in the morning.
Forget about a whole lot of tackle. I go about as light as possible. A single pole, and a pack of zoe's glow crappie magnets, and some jig heads in 1/32 oz or 1/24 oz usually does the trick. Also it doesn't hurt to bring along a flash light along just in case. I have forgotten to grab that item many many times so it doesn't hurt to just leave one in the boat.
Last nights water temps were 83 degrees and it was very dark. The skies were moonless most of the night but the bull frogs appeared to like it that way. I ended up catching 16 crappie and a few white bass and one yellow bass on a 1/24 oz jig head. Nada on a 1/32 oz jig this time. The 1/32 oz caught 18 crappie when I went out just a week ago so that shows you just never know how fast they want that drop!
I've attached a short video from last night for those who want to tag along.
