My friend, Ricky Watt, fished with me this morning from 7 to 10:15 for crappie. We did what we both love to do and that is fish off shore structure in deeper water. We caught fish in every spot that we tried except the first and last place. We just may eliminate those places. Grin.
We had 16 keepers up to 13.5" and we were using Bass Assassin S&P Phantom on a 1/16 oz jig head, 2" Crappie Dapper in Bluegrass on 3/32 oz jig heads. Ricky fished with Bobby Garland Blue and Green Thunder plastics. Both were productive. We only had about 3 or 4 short crappie today.
It was sunny, wind was calm, TVA running 25,000 CFS and the water in most places was sort of clear and 71.4 degrees. We covered about 3 or 4 miles of the main river channel.
