Default Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 11/22/2016

My wife, Wanda and I got out this afternoon for a little crappie fishing. Nice conditions as very little wind was observed. Partly cloudy skies made our coats feel good as we were running to and fro around the lake looking for submerged brush that had some crappies hanging around them. We managed to catch 12 keepers to take home for the freezer so that we can feed the children. We both caught 2 or more short fish. I caught one that was only about 5" long. I told Wanda that it took great skill to catch a crappie this small. Grin.

She took big fish honors with a chunky 13.5" Black Crappie, but remember, I taught her everything that she knows about crappie fishing. LOL It was a very enjoyable short 2-3 hours of fishing. We used Bass Assassin Pro Tiny Shads in the 2" size fished mainly on 1/24 oz jig heads. Also used a couple of Bobby Garland plastics as well. Both are great crappie lures when presented properly.

Water temp when we stopped fishing was 59.8 degrees in Waconda Bay which is near the ramp that we use when only fishing close by our house. Lake is at winter level, so anyone fishing the lake that is unfamiliar with it should stay between the markers as there is a lot of water that is only 4-6 inches deep. A good lake to ground your boat. Some patches of grass are still hanging on in the shallow humps and areas away from current. Bass fishermen are wearing these spots out trying to catch that bucket mouth bass on frogs, worms, and various other lures.

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Good day for you and Wanda!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there is no one out to get you
