Middle Tn. had a crappie tournament this day and my brother in law Mario and I paid our tournament fees and joined in. When we first got to that lake it was calm and fish were hitting the surface of the water in shallow water. We decided to give it a try but when we got the are where the fish were surfacing they had quit already. No bites, no luck. We had talked to one of the other guys from the club Ray Norwood and he said he was going to go to a spot he and I had fished before and give it a try. Mario and I headed that way and there was Ray trolling back and fourth. He had just 1 keeper at that point. Asked if we could sneak in and fish with him and he didn't mind. Said it was my spot anyway. Now I don't have anymore rights to that spot then anyone else but it is a big area of brush and has room for 4 boats to fish with no problems. Mario and I set out our slip float rigs and caught nothing but blue gill for the first hour. We moved out to deeper water, 20 ft and started casting out to 25 ft depths 12 feet down and started catching a few. We caught our 7th fish at 11:30 and weigh in was at 12:30. Lucky for us there were only 3 limits brought to the scale this day and we came in second to Steve and Terrie Trost. They had 7 nice fish. It was also Steve's birthday. Happy 70th my friend. Water temp was 87 with light shifting winds from north to east. Mostly sunny. The fish were moving around a lot.

We had close to 5lbs with another stringer about the same. Steve and Terrie were closer to 7lbs. Next tourny is on the 17th at Morris Ferry.
