Big Sandy Tn isa cheep living area. It has minners, good breakfast places, gas and Dollar General and a plumbing store.
I looked it up on the DB4D link above. States that it is 25% less to live here that the average across US.
It where me and Billbob eat breakfast. Bout 6 miles down the river from me. That makes me a good neighbor and this might or might not be a good thing.
Having grown up in Memphis and now living in Knoxville for the last 10 years, I would definitely suggest East TN between the two. West TN does put you near the Big Four, but East TN has much more moderate weather and beautiful country. PM me if you need an agent - I have a great one.
i have been fortunate to go to many of the places mentioned by these guys in this post. actually just got back from mountain home arkansas a couple wks ago. norfork lake and bulls shoals all within 30 min drives and they are 2 of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see. crystal clear water you can see 20 feet down in. not sure bout the crappie fishing on these lakes i have not fished them just went for the scenery. however the white river runs out of bull shoals and it is the clearest coldest water you will ever see and the trout fising is top notch. i also make several trips a yr to mississippi and to big sandy area of tennessee. my grandpa had a place in water valley on enid lake in mississippi and its a nice little community (mostly retired folks). price is very affordable and you are within 3 min of a world class fishery and grenada lake is only 20-30 min away. big sandy area is also beautiful country and the fishing is second only to mississippi in my opinion. good thing bout big sandy you can keep more than 15 fish. but 15 sippi fish will fill just as any ziplocs
I would look into the dover,tn area. It is a beautiful place and great fishing opportunities. Also the area around Martin,Tn is nice and close to Ky lake and Reelfoot lake.:twocents
The area around Martin is unique because there are no income taxes and you can do your grocery shopping in Fulton,Ky where there is no sales taxes. Just a short drive to Fulton.
Many folks in my area shop in Murray, Ky. To save the sales tax but my wife has noticed the prices on a lot of things at the Murray Walmart are higher than in Paris, Tn.
I guess it could be because it's a college town but a lot of the money folks think they save just goes to the store instead of the state.
Henderson County. Pretty country, low taxes, good fishing close by and an easy drive to Nashville.
I moved to paris in october of last year from clarksville tn, and i love it!! The lake is closer, crime is lower, theres a walmart, lowes, sears, and fast food, some mexican restaurants, minners, boat shops, internet, cheap homes, gyms, walgreens and cvs, Cane Pole, hospital, specialty clinics, and nice people...what else could you want.

My wife and I moved to Paris, TN from Wisconsin in May of last year. Property taxes are 1/3 of Wisconsin, housing costs lower, cheap gasoline, fantastic lakes/fishing, warm(er) winters, low crime, nice people, (strangers even say hello) lifetime fishing and hunting license for seniors, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc. The biggest drawback is a high sales tax. If you have an interest I will be happy to recommend a real estate agent and even give you a little tour.
