I took the day off after July 4th to go fishing. There was some rain in the area when I got up that morning, but it looked like it would push through pretty quick so we headed on to the lake. When we got to the boat ramp we only had to wait about 5 minutes before the rain stopped. We launched the boat and headed out to our favorite cove. We pulled crank baits and long lined jigs for a while in 14 to 25 FOW, targeting fish that were 10 to 15 feet down. We didn't catch much there and the 3 or 4 we did catch were coming off of the points in the cove. After a couple of hours of this, we pulled up on an island to let Ginger dog run around for a few minutes. Then we tried a different spot by the island and finally started catching crappie in 13 to 18 FOW about 10 to 12 feet down. Chartreuse was the preferred color for the day, and we ended up with 14 nice crappie and a nice hybrid bass for the day.
Sounds like a good day.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Got to get to pp one of these day. Good report.
If you do go early, the water lice get pretty thick about 11 AM. Most of the fishermen leave about lunch time.
last time I fished JPP Hopalong Cassidy was still alive and so was his horse Topper.
