Nolichuckey River Report
Spent the last two days going after cats from a sandbar on the Nolichuckey. First time I've fished for cats in many years.
Saturday was pretty good. We brought creek chubs and shiners. Using the creek chubs as cut bait worked the best. My buddy took home one blue in the 4-5 lb. range and a channel cat in the 8-9 lb. range. We threw back 7-8 yellow cats. I lost a really nice cat as well.
Sunday was a little different. My buddy hooked a monster very early and it broke him off on cut bait. He later hooked something really big, but the fight was really odd. We're not sure if it was a massive turtle or a really big fish. It pulled drag like crazy and at a very fast pace. It finally broke off. He caught a 15.5" Smallie on a live creek chub as well. I landed one 2-3 lb. channel cat and that was it.
