OH Report Fathers Day
Part 1: I fished a new creek arm off cedar creek that is closer to river channel. It's the creek arm directly across from cedar creek campground launch. Lone branch access I think. I fished from 5 Am to 8 AM and caught one catfish trolling double jig rig 10-12 ft deep in 18-22 fow. Marked lots of structure and some fish but no takers.
part 2: Came back around 5 pm and fished till about 8:15. Beautiful evening. I figured this creek arm was narrow enough the water lice might play elsewhere....boy was I wrong. It made for exciting time in a 14 ft Jon. Took water in on the way across from launch bc the boat wake was so bad. Once we got across and thanked God for not capsizing, we trolled the shaded areas in 10-12 fow next to tree line till about 7. Then we got into the middle of the creek arm in 14-18 fow. Picked up one blacknose crappie that was too short. I tried many colors and types of jigs. Tipped w minnows and without. Got more bites when I simplified to a single jig w a decent size split shot 12 inches above. I'm not sure I have been rigging the double rigs right. The jigs don't seem to have enough action. I got noticeably more strikes when I went to the single rig w a plain tube jig.
I'm determined to catch some crappie in this area. There are so many good spots w all the creek bends and points and islands and docks. I believe the fish are there I just don't have the presentation right yet.

The lake lice come out and it doesn't matter where you are at, they will find you. Not much can be done about that but sounds like you have got it figured out. Just keep trying something different. Way to keep with it.

Thanks! Next thing I'm going to try is night fishing. It's about the only way I can safely fish open water right now. Heck of a lot cooler too.
