I got to do something today that I have always loved, but don't get to do it much and that is fish a farm pond for bass and bluegills. I drove to Cumberland County where I used to live and fished about 3 ponds up there. The first pond was in the middle of the woods and after a 15 minute walk into the pond, the fish just would not bite. I did catch one small bass on top water plug. The gills would rush the lures, but turn away.
After the 15 minute walk back out of the woods, huffing and puffing all the way, we got on the 4 wheeler and headed to the next pond. We had much better luck at this pond. We caught shellcrackers, bluegills and LM bass. This particular pond has only been stocked for two years and I was impressed with the size that the fish have grown in such a short period of time. One or two more years of growth like they have and there will be magnum fish in this pond. Sorry, its location cannot be revealed per the owner. Grin.
Then to the 3rd pond which had been stocked for 3 years. We caught several fish on rooster tail spinners and my friend used some crickets to catch some bluegills. I only took a few pics of the fish. I really had a blast fishing like this. I used to fish ponds a lot and loved every minute of it.
