Default Chickamauga Lake 1/25/16 crappie report

A hippy friend of mine, Dave Ohms and I hit the water late morning to fish for about 1/2 day for specks, white perch, sacalay(spelling?), black crappie, calico bass or whatever people call my favorite fish to catch, and had a so-so day. We caught several fish, but most were undersized. We did manage 8 nice keepers for Dave's dinner tonight. It was sunny, chilly, windy most of the time we were out, and water temp was 42.3 degrees. Water falling rapidly after a very fast rise the past 2 days because of the monsoon rains that we got over the weekend. Quite a bit of trash floating on the water, so we were careful when we were running the boat on plane. I will post pics. The last one will be of Mr Crappie himself, Wally Marshall, that we met at the East Tennessee fishing show in Knoxville this past weekend. He came by our booth, the East Tennessee Crappie Club, and met and talked with us for several minutes. He ended up donating $500 to our classic this year. What a nice fellow he is.

Dave and I caught our fish on Panfish Assassins, BG shads, BG Daddee shads and Crappie Dawg lures in various colors. Bluegrass, Full Moon, were the best two colors. Most of the fish that we caught were on deep brush (20-25) and off shore. I caught them on 3/32 oz, 3" Daddee shad. Some fish came on docks though with deep water under the docks. Bites were very light. Keepers ranged from 11 to 13.5 inches in length and were fat and sassy.
