East Tennessee Crappie Club Jan. 16th Douglas Lake Results

East Tennessee Crappie Club held its fitfh event of the season yesterday on Douglas Lake. 22 boats partcipated in the event which was the largest tournout of the club's history. The weather was post cold front conditions, seems to be the norm for tournament days. The wind was very brisk out of the west/northwest which proved challenging for boat control. The club's anglers still managed to catch fish with the top five teams seperated by .37 lbs. Congrats to the first place team of Ricky Keener and Ronald Stipes with 7.90lbs. Second place went to the team of Wayne Darnell and Roy Rogers weighing in at 7.83 lbs. Darren and Tracy Caughron weighed 7.79 lbs for third place. Fourth Place went to the team of Anthony Tipton and Scott Caramack weighing 7.55lbs. Fifth place went to Ronnie King and Jeff Campbell with a total weight of 7.53 lbs. The big fish of the tournament went to the team of Tim King and Tom Hack with a nice 1.81lb slab. Full results are in attached photo. Most of the top teams reported catching their fish long lining or shooting docks. The post cold front conditions appeared to have the fish scattered. Congrats to everyone that participated.
There were five new members that joined the club during the event. This makes for a total of 47 active members for the club.
On an interesting note, one of the new members that joined yesterday had never fished Douglas Lake. He was hesitant about fishing a new lake that he had never been on. Matt Xenos, the club's president, gave the new member directions to a particular creek, told him a general area to look, and told him what to use. The new member weighed in almost 7lbs of crappie. This symbolizes what the club is about.
The next tournament is February 20th on Lake Chickamauga at Wolftever Boat Ramp. The registration will be between 630 and 7am. Hopefully it will be a pre-cold front type of day.
