As I watched the eastern sky turn pink I knew it was time to head down to the lake and try out my 4 new Pinnacle rods I received for Christmas to round out a matched set of 8 for my crappie catching machine.
The minnows I found had a case of the funk and soon where dropping like flies. Good thing I was optimistic and got a pound
Eased the boat in at Whitey's, turned the corner around the cypress and low and behold the Tiptonville armada created me. Man there where a lot of boats out there for a breezy 29 degree morning. Everyone must be desperate to try out their Christmas gear. Just like me
The WSW wind kept me from trolling the area I would like and kept shifting from W to S so my little boat was spinning like a compass much of the time.
Persistence paid off and I found active fish in water from 10ft to 16 ft of water while trolling straight minnows
Ended the day bringing 30+ to the boat and keeping 17. No monsters but there where a couple of TARP fish in the mix.
My Crappie Machine
The catch. Iced and ready to clean this morning
