Had a fishing trip planned a month in advance with a buddy of mine I hadn't seen in awhile. Weather was cloudy with 10-15 mph winds. 72 degreees out side with 58 degree water temp. Of course on Christmas day we had some flooding and tornadoes in the area and the wind was still up on the day after Christmas so I decided to go to an area on Tims that I knew we could get out of the wind and have at least a nice day on the water since it was so warm out. We arrived at the lake about 9am and it was very muddy with debris everywhere. Decided to go out and see If we could get something to bite. The current was pretty strong in the river so we moved into the creek arms and fished some docks with no luck. Went towards the main lake but the water got even more muddy and windy. So back to the creek arms we went and fished the brush piles. Caught fish in them 9ft down in 25-30 ft of water. The bite was slow as expected. Ended the day with 8 fish with only 1 keeper out of the bunch. My friend was amazed at the size's of the houses on the lake and the money people had in there properties. I know why when I am fishing under a pier that probably cost more then my house and you look up hill at a house that looks like a castle. My friend felt cheated and said now he feels bad after all the hard work he has put in all his life and doesn't have nothing near that to show for it like the people on the lake do. We all work hard and we all must be thankful for the things we do have. At the end of the day he was thankful for a nice day on the lake. Fishing. This morning he called me and said he was mad at me because now he wanted to go back out and fish more. Just goes to show that a bad day fishing can be one of the best days of your life. We had a great time even though we had trouble catching fish.
