    Default 10/30/15 Reelfoot Report Contest

After a disappointing spring crappie spawn I laid off the lake for a while.
Heard a few OK reports that the fall bite was beginning so I thought I would spend a little time on my home lake and see how it was doing. Fished the lower basin from 9am till 3pm and caught fish in several areas where I knew there would be plenty of stumps. The one thing these areas all had in common was 12 ft of water. All my fish were caught trolling straight minnows right on the bottom and they where scattered. One here , two there without there ever being any congregation so I just kept moving and covered a good bit of water in the 6 hours I was out.
Final tally was around 20 or so fish with 15 of them coming home with me to feed my family and Old Man Ivan's.
Several of them where good quality fish with a couple coming in at just under an eyeballed 2 pounds.
The best thing about the day was how the fish hit. Most of them slammed the bait. I mean 3 eyes in the water kind of hits. The kind that really wake you up.
It was a great day on the water and catching a few on my home lake made it even better.

Good report, good day as well.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

There seems to be less of them in my opinion.
4-6 years back it seemed a lot worse. I don't see them as often now.
That said I did have a 30# in the boat last week

I came all the way across the lake back to White's Landing Tuesday and only saw a couple of carp; of course, I was just idling due to the low water level. While just testing out my new power trim on Monday I did have a "big" visitor in my boat that slimed it up pretty bad.
