Not this year. In past years once or twice. I've never caught a crappie there bigger than 11". Had some decent days bass fishing, but more slow days than good. Place is full of medium brim 6 - 8 inches with the occasional bigger one and frequent smaller ones. I've never targeted them, but I hear that you can catch a boat load of yellow bass if you want. I've caught enough incidental to crappie and brim fishing to believe it. Those I've kept tasted good. I don't go to Herb Parsons with great expectations for quality, but it is a nice lake with decent fish populations. I'm glad to have it close by. I'm sure there must be some big bass and catfish there with all of the smaller panfish around to eat, but I haven't run into them yet.

HP is very slow now, with the heat and stagnant weather. This has not been a good year there, very overstocked.

Yep, I didn't like the water color Tues. Only caught fish at one spot. They were very small too. Those fish out there just don't seem to grow. They have added some fish attractors since I was last there. That was good to see.

Because HP is close, I fish there a lot. Love the lake, but way overstocked with Bream and Crappie.

Maybe the lake would benefit from lowering the size limit on crappie. With there being so many short fish and competing with yellow bass for food I don't think the forage base is enough for them to grow much larger. Maybe thinning them out a bit might help with the size issue but I think the real problem are the yellow bass. I fish reelfoot quite a bit and have seen what a school of them can do. They are voracious feeders and I bet out compete crappie when it comes to feeding. Just dont think they would ever be fished out or get there numbers low enough to make a huge difference.

They lowered the length limit to 8 in. a couple years ago.

Glenn is better, but slow, needs to cool down a little more. Crappie have nice size and Blue gills are very nice.
