Welcome to one the areas best kept secrets. (Docks)....I've read several of your post/advise on the contest pages, so I know you know what to do when it comes to dock shooting. My welcome advise is this about Chickamauga docks, just when you think you know a dock, you don't. Just remember that, also no matter what your electronics tell you/scan for you/indicate for you...if you think fish are there or even have a gut feeling fish are there, you better skip a jig, you won't be disappointed. Ray's docks built have no cross members, Dr.Docks will make you go empty your tackle box faster than anything till winter time and you see why you lost all your jigs (trust me, this is the voice of much experience). Some Dock owners here on the Chick will welcome you, come talk to you while you fish, and some will even bring you a cool drink. There are a few that will very rudely let you know that you are not welcome. (those docks are the ones Loaded with fish too, another helpful hint) What works one day on a dock most always never works the next trip back, our crappie go and tell on you, they warn their friends, so its very doubtful the same thing will work day after day or trip after trip. Also remember, there are a lot of what we call community docks (meaning nearly everyone that fishes for crappie knows the producing docks) Nothing gives me more fishing pleasure (big grin) is to pull up and see someone NOT catching a crappie and then for them to tell me no crappie are biting under that dock, they drive off, and I sit there and catch a limit...LOL...(I was taught by the best on Lake Chickamauga) Welcome again...

CUonthelake- Docks without cross members? Wow the is unheard of on the the Big G. I have added weight to a lot of docks 1/16 at a time so they want float off. Ha. Its just a public service we dock shooters do.

HA !! Jack, you need some of Grousefly's weedless jigheads .... 1/16oz ballhead, Y guard, #2 Aberdeen hook ... then you won't have to worry about cross members or cables or brushpiles around docks. I shoot a lot of docks at Watts Bar, and have for close to 15yrs, and can probably count the number of weedless jigheads lost on one hand.

I lose most of then when the line slips between the cross member and the piling. They actually hang up on the job head and not the hook.
