JJP crappie
My son and I got out to see if we could get some crappie Sunday after church. My last outing to Priest I fished Fall creek on the upper end. This time we fished more mid lake around Bryant Cove and Hong Kong island. The wind was pretty stout, water was clear to slightly stained, temps ranged from 62 to 66 degrees. We spider rigged staying in 12 to 14 FOW and managed 11 keepers with about a 3 short to one keeper ratio. Pink head jigs with the CM pink blue chart (not sure what the name is) was the preferred bait of choice. I kept the boat moving about .5 mph. seemed like they didn't want a slow moving jig. Had some tipped with minnows but didn't seem to improve the bit. All the keepers were 12 plus inches, didn't have to pull the scale, shorts were around the 9" mark, I have caught a lot of short fish this year so the future looks good at Priest! Wife and I are headed to Woods this coming weekend, heard it was a good crappie lake to.
Have a blessed day!
