    Default Tellico 3/22 ... Good day but strange things on my fish.


    Caught three fish with these hung on them, everyone was right on top of their head. Lampreys I am told ...

    Never had that happen to me on Tellico. What area were you fishing?

    Lampreys! Invasive species invaded Tellico years ago. Rarely fish there without catching one or two crappie with those on them.

    Jimp, I was in the Notchy Creek area .... I am learning this boogers are pretty common.

    I fish Notchy Creek area a lot for crappie. I always catch at least one crappie with a lamprey on it

    I caught one yesterday in the Notchy Creek area that had a red swollen spot on its forehead (?) and wondered what it was, guess this now explains that for me.

    How does one remove these critters ??

    I simply took plyers, pulled them off and cut the head off.

    i would think the bass would eat these things ... Anyone know??
