    Default Tullahoma, Manchester, Winchester, Suwannee

Hi fellas , I am looking on making a move to this area. I live up in Gallatin Tn now but don't really want to be here as I get older. I dont really have any reason to move Coffee Co. area other than Normandy, Wood and Tims Ford. This makes the area looks like a good place to live in my retirement. I took a trip there last week and found a place I liked but as luck would have it they just had an offer on it. I am looking for some bias input from those who have live there and know the area. Good and bad . Anything input is welcome. This is off topic but didn't know where else to post this .... Moderators move this if you must.

Feel free to PM me if you think thats the way to go...

    Thanks all

    Tom

I moved to Manchester out of FL in '05. I love the small town mentality over the big city, problem every second feel of the bigger cities. Tullahoma is a bit bigger and has a bit more to offer, the bel air neighborhood being real nice. Harton Medical Center isn't up to the big city class of hospital but has done well for my family over the years. I find it a very comfortable area and look forward to many more years here if the wife doesn't move us closer to the Granddaughter. And best of all, we never put the boats away.

Thanks Skeetbum, I was down in the area yesterday looking at a few properties. I am not that familiar with the area but like the ease of getting around. Traffic was no big deal. My bigger problem is just becoming familiar with the area and knowing where I am. While driving around you are in and out of different areas from large new homes to run down trailers... Just need to find what would be best suited for me as I grow older. As I had my wife with me we stopped at a few yard sales as we saw the signs and that allowed me time to speak to them. haha.. Its just going to take me a little time. One of my troubles is I have too many choices... Sure was a pretty drive... Love TN...

There are so many choices in that area. I guess it really depends on weather or not you want to live in town or out of town. There are some very nice places near any 1 of the three lakes. I would look in those areas myself but that is where I like to live. Gonecrappiefishing was just telling me the other day of a house within 50 yards of a boat ramp on Tim's. He said it needed some work but was for sale in the 40's. What a deal. Good luck and good fishing.

    Thanks Dave,

I would prefer to be a little out of town or at least in an area that gives you a feel of having privacy. Might even want a chicken or two. Living near the lakes wow that would be great. Getting a fixer upper is not in my future. Never been a super handyman (lazy). The idea of needing to do significant remodeling does not appeal to me that much. I would have to get a contractor to do any remodeling. Wow 50 yards from the ramp that might be a bit close for me... I have found that $40K home are usually in 40K neighborhoods. I could fix up the house but not the area. I have been looking on Zillow and have found a few places but when I go and see them you get a better picture of the place and the surrounding area. Things seem to look better when they were on the internet.

I dont want to go more than $200K if at all possible. But that should give me some choices and if I can't find what I want then I can maybe have something built.

As Dave said, there are many areas to choose from. At that price range and half of that will give you a lot of options. I live in Winchester, just off the square. I would be glad to meet and give you some ideas on locations. Just PM me.

I love it down here. I have 7 lakes to fish within 1 hour of my house. There is a house in my neighborhood that will be going up for sale soon.(no chickens, but a few deer and cows) I have lived here for 15 years and have never regretted it. PM me for more information.

Guys, Thanks to all for responding. I have been sort of distracted with several items. The biggest Pain for me is dealing with Sumner County and their Highway Department. Been trying for yrs to get them to correct their drainage so I don't get flooded out but they have been totally uncooperative with what I though was a clear case . Well I finally got fed up trying to reason with them and had to get a Lawyer involved. So now I will see. So lovely to have public servants ignore their responsibilities. I hope they will see the light now. I think I might need to make me a few signs and stand out at the voting locations. Wouldnt want them to not be recognized for their good work.
