A solo crappie fishing trip Wednesday. I fished from 11:00am until 4:00pm. It was windy from the start but the bite was good. I was in the main lake fishing points and ledges from 12-24 feet. Jigs and minnows on two rods near the bottom. Lot's of mayflies...shad...gar in the area. My boat control was difficult in the wind. It was just a matter of how long and how hard I wanted to work to catch fish. I worked pretty hard and kept 10 fish for my trouble. My best fish were from noon until 1:00 with one around 13.5 inches and it was released. Totals - 30 crappie...probably 20 keepers...4 "blue" cats instead of the usual channel...and the same 5 or so small drum I've been catching lately.![]()

Nice fish! Your sure getting some good ones down that way.
Get with me some time and I'll give you a recipe for the drum...involves a pine plank![]()
Nice report. Wind can be tough for sure.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Nice catch. Not a bad day fishing mid day. Nothing worse than finding fish and not being able to stay on them cause of the wind.
