    Default Reelfoot trip advice

My brother & I have never fished Reelfoot, but want to try. We've been up there to see the eagles in the winter, but that's it. We thought we might drive up one afternoon, spend the night somewhere on the lake and get a guide for one day, to show us the the basics. We both recently retired, so any day of the week is fine.

Do any of you veterans have any advice as to the best places to stay, hiring a guide, etc.?
    Thanks a lot!

The guides at blue bank are good. Pricey but worth their weight in gold. Cody quick, al Hamilton, johnathon moore, etc. plenty of good guides. To be honest right now they're all probably going to take you to the same spot, considering the weather. If you have your own boat I might suggest taking it and saving some money. Put in around Bo's landing somewhere and fish the lower blue basin.

Jackie Van Cleave is a guide at Reelfoot. Have stayed at Blue Bank numerous times and saw his face often. Don't know if he is contracted with Blue Bank, but just Google his name. He gives out his cell #. He is a pro, and Reelfoot is his home lake. Also, search for Boyettes. I have seen where you can hire Ronnie Capps as a guide. In my eyes, maybe the best crappie fisherman in the country. Good luck! Reelfoot is an incredible place!
