Tough Day at Normandy
Fished the Middle Tennessee Club Tournament today With Mr. John aka Johnw here at c.c. John is 1 of the premier fishermen in the club. He catch's fish when most people can't. So it was an honor and a valuable lesson to fish with him. I know I asked a lot of questions and he knows what he is doing. We set out at 7 this morning. Air temp about 30 water temp 46 partly cloudy with light winds. Winds did pick up a little during the day and made things difficult. We fished mostly deep water all day. 20-40 deep. We spider rigged. John used mostly minnows I think and I used minnows with jigs and some jigs with various bg and crappie nibbles. Also kept a slip float out most of the time. Well that didn't work so well. 8 hrs on the lake and John managed to catch 1 dink. I think I had 1 bite but missed it. Can't remember a day that bad in recent memory. We weren't the only ones. But some people did catch fish. But I will let Toby tell it on the middle tn page. Just wanted to let ya'll know what didn't work for us. I could talk about the weather and how the water was muddy up river but John will tell you his self, we just didn't find fish much less biting fish. We watched the sonar units all day and seen very little other then bait balls with no fish around them. Lots of dead shad. We fished tree tops and brush piles. Some open water flats.
Good luck guys it can only improve.
