    Default Chickamauga Lake 1-26-14

A short fishing trip for us Sunday. We fished from 11:45 until 2:30. We caught 10 crappie. It started out well with 9 crappie the first hour but only 1 over the next hour. Sheets of ice on the water in places but the temperature got in the 50's. Water temperature was 41. We caught most of our fish in 18 feet vertically fishing with 1/8 oz. jigs in various colors. The wind became an issue and I couldn't position the boat very well as we were in the main lake. We took a break from the waves and got in a slough to eat a sandwich and think of a new plan. The best we could come up with was to try again another day. Hopefully the cold snaps will ease up a bit and these crappie can thaw out a little in the next week or so. We took a couple of pics before we left and decided to let the crappie go that were in the livewell...their lucky day.

I really like those "Chick" fish. They just luck healthy. Good job on catching the ones that you did. The wind is killing my fishing more than the cold.

Wind does it make difficult to control the boat for sure. Congrats on braving the weather.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Looks cold and I am sure it was. Great job and nice pics. Can't hardly wait for this cold to be over with.

Yeah...same on the "Chick". It finally thawed out but still hard to find a decent day to fish these days.
