Need a little advise

I live in Nashville and mostly fish PP for crappie but I have a cousin coming down from IL next week and we are thinking of heading to Kentucky lake for a day. I have never fished the lake before and neither has he, where should we go? I am thinking either thurs or fri just cause I am sure the weekend traffic(boat) will prob be pretty heavy.
