Normandy Lake fishing
Went out Sunday fishing for Crappie. Didnt do any good what so ever. Had a few hits but was guessing blugill as they woulndt take it good. Just tapping at it. Was using Jigs and minnows and fishing about 15 -18 feet.
The good thing that happened was that we rescued a man and his 9 year old grandson as there boat had capsized and were driting in the wind. They had been in the water about 15-20 minutes. Water was 62 deg. They were in a 14 foot jon boat with a 9 hp motor just north of the island near cedar point. We came around the corner coming from the bridge and there was another boat coming towards us so I was payng attention to them and there wake as it was windy. Started seeing debris in the water like cooler and floatation cushion when my partner for the day, Kenny, said that there were people waving. I turned around to see a boy on top of the capsized boat waving his arms. I guess the other boat didnt see them and we almost missed them. It took us about 20 minutes to get them in our boat and another 20 minutes to get them to shore near buy and turn there boat over so we could tow it back. It took another 20 minutes to get back to the launch. The whole time we didnt see another boat. So they were pretty lucky that my eagle eyed friend Kenny seen them. Glad to get them back safe and sound to the ramp. They were very cold but in good shape. There was going to be hell to pay from grandma, grandpa told me. Wet and tired we continued fishing. Was a good feeling to help someone in a bad situation. Guess the Lord sent us fishing for a reason. All in all it was a good day.
