Smile Anyone fish for bluegill much since their no Limit's on them ?...

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else here likes to catch a mess of bluegill since there's no creel limits on them?. Do they bite as good in the fall though?, I haven't tried that theory out yet since I just got back into fishing this year lol. Man I love catching Bluegill I think they are some sweet fighting fish as their being caught, I have rarely caught any crappie to know the difference about the fighting patterns they put out more or less from bluegills. But 1 good thing about bluegills I like is they taste just as good as crappie do lol...Anyone think their just as good catching in the fall like they are in the summer?...

I love catching and eating bluegill. However, I don't usually target them in the fall. I fish for them from May through July because that's when I can find the big bulls.

Nice, how do you locate the big bulls?, are they in deeper water maybe?. I might have to adjust my Slip-knot if so lol...

I've heard the shellcracker will bite in the fall about like in the spring. You may have to go a little deeper though.

On Douglas I find the beds on old road beds, private boat ramps , gravel beds and sometimes just in pockets in creeks. The beds are usually in 10-14 feet of water and I fish crickets on a #6 long shank gold hook with a split shot under a pencil bobber at 8-9 feet deep. I use a 12 foot crappie rod so it's easier to handle the depth of the hook.

Also, the gills will spawn on the full moon in May-August and the best bite seems to be the week before the full moon.

Bluegill bite year round. I usually ignore the bed fishing and fish in the fall and winter when I have them to myself. Just look at the ice fishing forum. People catch big gills through the ice all the time.

Those two redear in that one clip, the first caught by Jim Doom and the second monster caught by Tim Farmer were over 13inch fish. Farmer said he was mounting that one, I wonder if he did. I'd have to mount it, that thing had to be pushing close to 1.12lbs or more.
