    Default 10-26-09 Reelfoot

Fished same water depth as the day before. Started slightly deeper in 14ft but 11-12fow 9ft deep was the ticket. Caught these from 10:30-3pm. Caught 40-50. Threw a bunch of "keeper" fish back and kept 15 slabs. Still no big ones.......... But these fish were slightly bigger on average than the day before. You may notice at the top of the picture a black cappie. A rare treat. It was my first fish i boated. Caught a black crappie off almost the exact same location last year. Makes you wonder. It was not my longest fish or biggest in girth but definately the widest fish I caught all day. So thick it was unbelieveable. Water was 58-60. Fishing is very slow by most accounts here. Dont really know whats up. Lucked up yesterday for sure. Dropped a marker and fished it tight to catch most of these fish. I find the bouy marker to be the most effective tool I have in the boat more often than not. But I lost my markers when I moved into my new shop and luckily there was a yankee, a Reelfoot Yankee, close by to let me borrow his since he wasnt catching any fish! :D:D Thats what good friends do! And I wouldnt get half the time on water I do if it were not for him!!!

    Good Deal Justin,
I was up at the foot on Saturday with my brother n law and saw the S.S. Cracker. It was good to see him on the water he probaly limited out, he had 15 good ones when we were leaving at 11:30. We had only caught 10 but I had to get home for the Ky lake trip with my dad. The ky lake trip was a bust! We fished hard for two days and the fish were scattered, but I had a great time with my dad. I think we are going to try the foot in the morning. I didn't mean to steal your post but just wanted to let you know how we had done. I'm still working on the buckets as soon as I get em I'll get them to you.
    Later,
    Lynn

Well Lynn you were in the general area of where you should have been to boat a few. Things are hard to catch thats for sure. No comment on how many the S.S. Cracker had on Saturday. He did not limit I know that for sure. He gives me such a hard time and I am gonna get him back good one of these days. I had over 20 fish in the box when fishing was peaking yesterday but the more I got to thinking about it the more I did not want to clean my 30 so I set a personal limit of 15 and released them. Just when i would catch one that I knew was bigger than another in the box I would cull him out. I threw back some bigger than a few I kept but I like catching them more than I like putting them in the box sometimes. If I had only been catching 10 inch fish you better belive I would have loaded up the livewell with them to save face but luckily I caught enough 12 inch fish to make my day go a little better. I think I am going to shut it down this year. Fall fishing is too tough for me. Its going to get cold soon. And there are plenty reasons for me to stay home and work and not go fish. Spring time will be good and I have condos to build this winter!!!

Nice catch Justin! I think our next trip to the Foot will be a little later next year. With a limited time frame the early spring weather is just puts too many limitations on gettin' around. Keep on fishin' my friend. Hope to see ya next year.

    Very nice catch.
It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
