    Default Crazy day on Wylie

I also launched at South Point on Tuesday for the first time since it reopened. Got a late start. As I was about to leave the dock, a fire rescue crew raced into the parking lot. The chief asked if he could get in my little Bass Tracker with me and ride upstream toward the steam plant. An unoccupied jet ski had been reported floating around up there. Long story short, after working our way through the debris field, we located it. They determined that it was probably inoperable and had most likely drifted away due to the high water. Unbelievable response from Gaston and Mecklenburg. Fire, Police and D.N.R. were all involved. Thankfully, no rescue or recovery was needed. After all that excitement, I actually started fishing around 9:30. Stayed until 3:30. Fished near Withers mostly. Kept a limit. Threw back a bunch of small ones. First time I have taken a stringer photo in years.Name: IMG_6321.jpg

Oops! Didn’t mean to include the single fish pic. That was from a week ago.

Dang PawPaw you did awesome close to the ramp. I ran half the lake trying to find some willing to bite. I didn’t do too good till about 11:00, wish I had slept late.

Very nice-looking stringer of fish. Glad you found some fish and helped with the rescue situation. Glad there was no injuries or death involved. Thanks for the report.

Yeah, I remembered why we don’t use stringers anymore after I took them out of the live well one by one just to get a photo. Then I put them back only to take them out again at home to put on ice in a cooler. Kind of a hassle.
