    Default Favorite Rods

Does anyone have it bad like me?? I go thru periods where I have notice a rod I’m using is lacking something and search for a better rod. I’m at that stage again. I know it’s only important to SinglePole Fishermen. I was fishing cheap rods and decided to try a better rod so I went with the St. Croix 5’6”. Sweet little rod good around tight spots on docks. Loved it, but I broke 3 of them. Conclusion nice but not durable. Fishing style changed more to brush and open water. Friend recommended a Ray’s Rod 7 foot Golden Feather. It’s the lightest most sensitive rod I ever used. Super Soft tip and has a solid carbon tip which has been more durable than the St. Croix. Now I’ve started fishing open water with heavier jigs at longer distances and the GF doesn’t have enough backbone for good hook sets. I’m now I using a ACC Crappie Stix 6’6”. It is super light and comfortable with good tip and good backbone. Been using about a month and been excited about it’s performance. Gonna order another one today. I used the GF for 2 years. Hope the ACC is good for the long term. Curious to what y’all using. Ok drive me crazy with new rod suggestions. I’m easy to influence.

St. Croix panfish 7'3" medium light, Wally Marshall Pro Target rod, H & H rods, Airstream rods (Cabelas/Bass Pro brand), lots of choices that basically boils down to personal preference and/or sponsorship.

I have the Bass Pro Panfish Elite that I been using as a backup to the ACC. It is sensitive but is a bit heavier than I like, but will continue to use it. For the price it’s a great rod. Got a buddy with a HH I tried and didn’t like but at the stage I’m at now I’m gonna try again.

Doug, the St. Croix panfish rods have a 5 year warranty I believe...that is also something to consider...

I use a 6’6” st croix Avid for single pole crappie and love it. I also use a 7’ St Croix Avid if I
need longer casts. I actually have 4 of the 7’ models. The Avid’s have a lifetime warranty. Only broke one that I closed the tip in a compartment and they replaced it no questions asked for the $40 replacement fee or whatever it is. I have used the 7’ ones for years to throw little 1/8 oz marabou jigs to stripers when they are shallow feeding on small threadfins. I’ve caught hundreds of stripers on them up to 14 pounds. Been really happy with those rods.

Thank you for the review on the ACC Crappie rod. Those have caught my eye and I’ve considered getting one for guests to keep them away from my St Croix.

    G. Feather put these in the boat today. It was deadly in Casey’s hand. I think he liked it. Name: IMG_1929.jpg

I’ve been a fan of ACC, but have changed to Catch the Fever poles now. Strong, sensitive and well balanced.
