Crank fishing can be very good at times on our lakes but black crappie are not as easy as the white crappie are. I been pulling crank's for many years and still do from the kayak as it works. The best lake for cranking I have found it to be Clark Hill and parts of Hartwell because of the mix of both fish. It is surprising that on the Hill even the black crappie will hit the cranks better than other lakes, I believe it is because of the competition of both species for the same meals. It can be very costly but sure is fun to do.

I love pulling cranks. But they are right about pick your lake. I can go to High Rock and do well, but go to tillery and work hard to put any in the boat. You will also probably not catch as many on cranks as say pulling jigs but it sure is fun. If I can catch them with cranks, bet that is what I am doing.

I love pulling cranks on high Rock. Got started with it because of reading all of cwright's post on here. Now I'm addicted to it. However I mainly pull cranks in the summer and into the fall. Pulling jigs right now. Well, that is if I can ever find the time to go. If you do decide to pull cranks get your wallet out. But worth it.
Now it looks like I'm going to have to try Wylie out this year. Thought about it last year but never made it. May come join in on a night stalk this year. Good look on the water!!
