Got a surprise visit at 7 am from all three of the grand kids yesterday morning wanting to go fishing. DJ, Dave and Henry got me up and out without hardly a bite for breakfast. They brought me a sausage biscuit from Bo Jangles, and it was a rush job to get that down and go brush teeth and wash my face. We managed to get loaded up and on the water by 8 am. Now the sad part is we couldn't find the fish. checked all the usual spots and even went up Big Allison to the boat ramp and power lines. Nothing in numbers to be found. When we found some small groups of perch, we'd get one or two then they were gone. 8 am to 1 pm and only 4 keepers which went back for a later day for someone. 1 large perch by Henry, 2 crappies by David and 1 catfish by DJ. Me I just drove the boat and sweated. Water temp was 88.9. All in all, we had fun just being out and together. I am ready for the night life and at least a cooler time on the water. The kids had a day off from school and Henry has worked a head on his worked, so he gets the three-day weekend and says he's staying with me. It is great to be loved. Of course, he is spoiled to the bone. So are the other two! I let DJ put the pontoon on the trailer and he got it first shot and did very very well! All three put everything back in place after fishing and stowed the Bimini. Really good crew to have on board for being young as they are. Just wish they could have found the fish and got more out of the trip. But that's fishing some days you do and somedays you don't! Thank you, guys, for taking Paw Paw.
