...was TOUGH!! It's been a little over 2 weeks since I last fished and kit was a completely different picture when I got to the ramp this morning. The lake was HIGH, THRASHY, AND MUDDY! Also, after launching I found out the water was about 15 degrees colder starting out at a whopping 60.6 degrees this morning!Man! Talking about signs of a tough day....this was it.
Last weekend it was some bad storms around. Here at home I only received 3/4" of rain all weekend long although I did see some reports of 5+" of rain in other towns in NE Ga/SC. Well, I guess all that water ran down Broad and Savannah Rivers flooding the lakes and turning everything around here RED.
AND, last night was the catfishing tourney at Bobby Brown Park. Man...at all the jugs floating on the lake this morning with several still having fish on them after 8AM. Boats zigzagging everywhere this morning. Musta been a hugh turnout to that contest this year.
Anyhow, talked with a few other boats crappie fishing and it was the same story everywhere on the shallow end of Clark Hill. Fish caught were very few and far apart. Atleast we didnt get skunked. A friend and his 13 year old son went with me today and we wound up putting 10 keeper crappie in the livewell so those fish made them a good mess of fillets for a family meal. The story today for us was "today was fishing, not catching." I still enjoyed the company in my boat and I promised them we will definitely hit it again when the water warms back into the 70's and the lake clears up a bit. Hopefully the next time we go the weather will be as nice as today was...Mild winds and comfortable temps with a lot of sunshine.
