    Default Up to the Cabin

Went to Charlie's cabin for a few days this week. We managed to sneak in 1 day of turkey huntIng but only had one gobble and we couldn't talk him in.
Forgot my phone the 1st day and of course the only crappie I caught was that day. Couple of beautiful Black Crappie plus some bream and the bass were active so several went in the pan.
There is also an oxbow lake on the hunt club property and he leaves his 2nd boat there during the summer. Had to cut our way past a tree that came down to get to it. Neat thing about fishing that oxbow is the total solitude. We never heard a car, plane or sign of human activity.
I also made some Salmon patties using Uncle Remus' recipe.
Charlie stocked more bluegill and grass carp in the pond. Man, those sterile grass carp are really expensive. Name: 20190429_185047_HDR.jpg

The bluegill came out of the oxbow lake in about 6" of water. They were back in the shallow pockets. The Flier came from his pond. They were native to the creek that feeds the pond.

A great report Ray, not all know what a Flier is, very beautiful fish. I can catch them out of the grass mats when crappie fishing in March and April in select areas on Santee, Nice catch and pics, enjoyed it!
