you didn't say where on santee you'll be but if you look down the page for the Title:" Santee", you'll see the general info you're asking about. They should be on trees and @ dock middle of this month!

Wife, daughter and I will be coming to fish Lake Marion for the first time in March. Usually we fish Sinclair or Oconee but are looking to see some new country. We like to dock shoot but can troll if needed or single pole jig. At our GA lakes if you aren't fishing docks 10ft plus your wasting time.... In FL on Crescent and Talquin its a little different depending on water temp and time of year, for dock fishing.
Can someone PM some general knowledge of Marion... Timing is March 15th for the trip. I'm assuming like most lakes the fish begin moving out of channels to creek mouths, then back of creeks and banks as water temp approaches 50degree plus. However, I have seen some videos of folks single poling grass mats in the shallow areas of Santee in December???
I don't need your secret fishing hole just general knowledge of where to begin this time of year, maybe jig color dark/light? and water temp? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I can trade some information on Talquin or Crescent if needed we just returned from there last week and had a fabulous 3 days.

Perfect. i missed that thread, sorry. We are staying mid lake right beside the bridge on the south side. If they will be on trees and docks that is perfect for my wife and little girl all they have to do is hold the pole and shake a jig!!
If you're staying near bridge Scan those bridge columns.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
Yes sir. Will do I haven't ever fished many bridge pilings. Do they move water through that lake a lot?
Whatever electronics you have you should be able to spot schools of shad feeding on columns and or crappie as fish can be feeding on those schools of bait or a few fish maybe suspended around columns.
Vertical jigging or shooting jigs around columns can produce catches.
Good luck hope you catch em wherever you find them and technique used.

Be careful if you're not in the channel. There's a forest of submerged trees and stumps to watch out for.
Definitely watch the stumps! I have fished across from the campground and done pretty good with bream. There's a ramp there also.
