I had a 40 Tohatsu installed when we did our build last year. The break-in period is long. First couple times in the water with a new toy and you can't open it up is like torture. You'll like the Tohatsu though, good torque and pretty quiet.

I have a 20hp tohatsu that I bought new in 2013 I think. It's been excellent.
hope your new motor works good for you Ray
you goin back after the Oscars again this year?
I've got a 30 4 stroke that as quiet as my tm. You'll love it.
Well i found today that they shipped my motor without the control box, so now they trying to round one up. Tohatsu apparently changed their policy or at least that's the story I'm getting . Mercy I don't like last minute doings.
Ray, where did you get your new motor from. I'm thinking about getting one.
Weeds Marine had best price but jury still out til I get boat back. 3 Tohatsu dealers around here. One at Jake's Landing, one up near Billy Dreher Island, and Weeds here in Lake Murray.
Hooray! Got an unexpected call this afternoon telling me my boat was ready. They had said earlier it might be Friday before they got a control box in, but it came in today and they got it ready. They did the 10 minute break in then a brief spin on the lake. Be Friday before I can get it out for a run, but super glad to have in time to break in before Florida trip. Looks really good. I'm impressed with the technology, it is fuel injected not carburetor.
Ray, I know you did your research. I was talking with the mechanic at Buddy's Marine and he told me that Tohatsu is making all of the 30hp and smaller motors for Mercury now. Have fun, it should make your new boat fly.
