Santee question

I’m thinking of taking my kayak to Santee next week for some crappie and bluegill, are there any good areas near boat ramps that I could catch fish? Don’t know the lake at all and have never been on it. Are the fish shallow down there now?

This trip is on my bucket list! I have some kayaking friends that go a few times a year and they use Sparkleberry Landing on the upper end of Lake Marion. They always have a good trip if catching fish or not.

I would guess the fishing will be tough with this cold spell. Supposed to be colder all week.

Again, both Taw Caw and Jacks offer good fishing without traveling far from boat ramp. Another good option not many mention is Polly’s landing and gum ball pond area. This area would be good with kayak with little larger boat activity.

I forgot about Pollys and I caught my largest bass from Santee there many moons ago. It would be another good choice.

Low Falls,& Popular Creek may be good areas have caught some large shellcrackers there this time of year, stump hole has been good to me also but you would have to cross some open water to get to the trees across from the landing. I have a sneak boat and it's amazing how close you can get to wildlife and fish if you are quiet love going in the backwaters up from low Falls and up beside the train tressel
