Brett ... without a "head" weight, your jig will likely run with the hook point pointing down .... more likely to hang into anything it comes across, and hook fish in the bottom lip membrane (rather than the roof of the mouth) so that the fish may have a easier chance to come unbuttoned. Not dissing your work, as I think it looks great and should catch you some fish ... just making a suggestion that may help create a more successful bait. And I may be off base in my assumption, but I'm only going on what I see in the picture.
