Took a few weeks off from crappie fishing so after looking at a favorable forecast last night (overcast with little wind, moderate temps) I decided to make a run to the lake and see what was happening. Got launched at daylight and after a quick run I had lines in the water at 6:10AM. I trolled for awhile (longlining jigs) without a lot happening. The first hour I think I had caught 7 fish with only 2 of them keepers.

I was pulling 1/16th jigs @ 1.0 to 1.2 mph without a lot of success so I decided to move to a little deeper water and slow down some. That seemed to be the right combination as I started catching fish...having some doubles and triples. Life is good!

Lots of little fish and plenty of keeping sized fish too. Nothing real big but I was catching fish and to me that's all that mattered.

Anyways, fished on until it began getting hot (@ 9:15AM) when the sun popped out. I had already caught way over the limit, culled out the smaller fish, and had a good solid limit in the 'well.

Caught today was 70 crappie....kept 30 and tossed back another 40.

Today was alot of fun. You just have to pick a day when the sun is hid some, it aint raining or windy....and hopefully the fish are biting. Today I fished waters from 12' deep to 20' deep catching some fish at all depths pulling single 1/16th jigs @ 6'-8' deep. Best colors were lighter colored jigs with chart tails but then everything I had out there caught some fish today. And finally....the livewell shot.
