Crappie at Lake Marion? Where to go?

Just wondering if anyone is finding them. Pondering if the crappie are in the shallow creeks (potato, jacks) or if I need to look deeper. Pondering giving it another go. thinking of longlining either jack's or potato in the morning with 1/32 oz jigs and 1/16oz jigs deeper in wyboo if I stick around into the day. I might want to tightline stumps in the creeks also, I appreciate the input. Tim

Can't really give ya any good info Tim. I don't know of anyone that's still trolling. The bite has been sporadic to poor. I did manage two limits last weekend. I had to fish most of the day to catch'em. All fish came one pole jigging brush. Fish were caught throughout the water column, with deeper water being better. Caught some in Jacks, with most out on the main lake.

I appreciate the info ink, i imagine there is alot of debris from the early week rain, i might ask my soldier if her and the husband would rather go to wateree, did well in just 3 hours.

I'm headed down to Stumphole for a week starting next Saturday. I have not been since we went in your boat. My buddy that has the house there said the bream/shellcracker fishing had been slow then hot then slow so it's a crap shoot to know when to go. Ink, I think my buddy from Florida is coming so we may see you on the water. If something changes I'll give you a call.

Ok Ray. Well, I went to Santee on Saturday. Upon arriving to the marina I was informed a charity tournament was taking place and was asked if I had any interest in fishing it. The entry fee was minimal, (10.00) and the money went to a great cause. So I thought, what the heck, I'm going fishing anyways, might as well fish with a purpose. You could weigh 15 pan fish of your choice. Since crappie is my thing, that's what targeted. As is the norm this year, the bite started slooooow! By 10:30 I had two little fish, 1:30 I had 9. It wasn't looking good. I kept plugging away and had a little flurry the next hour boating 11 more to fill my limit. I headed in and weighed my top 15 at 20.74lbs. Low and behold that was good enough to bring home the gold. Fish were caught with both minnows and jigs, with jigs being best. All fish caught in water 11 feet or less.

Great catch Tim. How did the bream and shellcracker fisherman do? Just curious because we will do some of that next week along with crappie.

Very few shell cracker were caught, and from what I heard the bream were scattered.
