    Default Bad Day of Fishing

I have had what I thought were bad days of fishing when I caught nothing or very little, but the link below is to a really bad day of fishing. I love to fish, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong in a hurry. Have to be so careful in the whole process and never get complacent or unaware of changing conditions. I have seen some incidents on boat ramps and heard other horror stories and I have to say I always have some amount of fear that I will do something wrong one day and wind up in a similar situation.

That's scary. Glad they're all ok.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

Have looked at that ramp lately, wanting to launch boat. Glad that i didn't. It is real scary, when they are generating. Looks like georgia would try and build a ramp that was safe.

I would bet the ramp did not look that bad when they put in but was a different story when they tried to pull out with the current flowing. I have a friend that witnessed something similar several years back further down the river. They came up to the ramp just as a guy was loading a couple of jet skis. He asked his wife or daughter to pull the truck (a big dually) up. It was a manual transmission and she kept getting further and further down the ramp as she tried until she jumped out and then the man jumped in and proceeded to ride the truck into the water as there was nothing he could do. Friend and others jumped in to get him out as the current was starting to take the truck downstream. He said the guy was in shock and just sitting there with his hands still on the wheel and the truck under water. They did get him out safely.

I don't understand why they would have the ramp open. Things happen quickly and it's good to hear they were saved safely.

I had heard about that accident. It sounds like from the report that both boats may have been moving at the time of the collision. Very sorry for the families of those killed and really for all involved. It will be interesting what the final report says. Probably neither boat expected to encounter another boat at 11 pm and at least one of them was likely going too fast for that low of visibility.
