I'm willing to head to the Columbia, Sumter or Charleston areas if you know someone good around those areas. Thanks again for any info. Be careful out there it's a minefield.

Hello Gentlemen,
I'm new to this forum. I've been catching cats for awhile with my daughter and now we would like to start catching a few crappie, this is a great site for info! Got a new I pilot trolling motor, installed it and went to try it out this afternoon. And on the way out we hit a stump just below the water. We were not running too fast but the motor (15hp 4stroke Johnson) is not running right. I live near Santee State Park. So does anyone know of a good shop in the area that they trust? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Sorry for the pic being sideways, new at this.

Welcome to Crappie.com to you and your family. Posting pics from phones you never know how they will load but we all have got use to turning our heads sideways to see themHope you can find someone to look over your outboard. I hit a underwater stump on the Hill a few weeks ago that put my outboard out of commission so I feel your pain.

welcome to the board Santee can be tuff to catch fish and on your equipment, there's a Johnson dealer in Orangeburg but I've never used them. Chip Smith also in Orangeburg work on all types but some folks have had issues with him over the years but he's always worked with me.
If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D

Thanks for the info, contacted Mr Smith. It might not be to much damage, got to get it to him and see. Hopefully some persistence and patience will get us a couple fish, my daughter has more of those than I. We enjoy being out there. Thanks again!
Got a really good one man shop not far from you. Call Kens Boat and Prop Repair. 803-378-0212. He is in Orangeburg about 3 or so miles from Walmart. He has a shop at his house, leave a message if he doesn't answer, he might be fishing. Tell him Ray sent you. He just replaced my tilt motor last week.
Unless you need a really rare part, he usually turns it around in a day or two.

Thanks much! It might just be a spun prop hub (I'm always learning), hope so. I'm working on a house not far from Walmart. Really appreciate the help
He does prop repair too. From Walmart go toward North (Hwy 178) to Kennerly Rd(Stoplight)
Turn right on Kennerly and go to Cabot Drive(dirt road). He's just down on the right, you'll see his sign and shop.

Talked to Kens boat/prop repair and he is tied up until Monday, so I'll drop it off then. He is going to check it out but thinks it is probably the prop hub (hoping I dodged a bullet) and if it's not he doesn't mind working on Johnson motor. Thanks for the help! Hope I can pass it on and be of help to someone too.
I knocked a plug out of my aluminum prop and missed a week of fishing waiting on repair, so i ordered a SS Prop and now keep the Al one as a backup.
I'm embarrased to admit that even though I have used Ken for years I didn't realize he could reweld and repair props until recently. Probably cost me more in time and money than it should have if I'd taken it to Ken.
